GLASS Recycling

Glass has the characteristics of being recyclable and non-polluting. Most waste glass is discarded with garbage, which not only wastes resources but also pollutes the environment. Melting a ton of waste glass, energy consumption is 75% less than using raw materials. Therefore, waste glass is a recycled renewable resource. Glass scraps system can save energy, save resources, be low-carbon, and be environmentally friendly. Glass raw materials mixed with waste glass contain impurities that can affect the quality of glass products, so impurities such as metal, paper, gravel, ceramics, and others must be removed from the waste glass.

The treatment of recycled waste glass involves collecting contaminated waste glass and then concentrating on processing to obtain qualified broken glass that can be used for glass production. The general process is: cleaning the contaminated glass, crushing it to a suitable particle size according to requirements, and using manual sorting and automatic separation technology to sort large and small impurities.

Metal recovery technology for waste glass recycling

Recovery of glass bottle & flat glass

To turn waste broken glass into glass raw materials, metal, paper, gravel, and ceramics must be removed. Large-sized impurities such as wooden boards, metal pieces, ceramic fragments, etc., are sorted manually by workers. Then small-sized and light materials are sorted using our equipment.

First, use our magnetic separators (such as suspension magnets, drum magnets, and magnetic pulleys) to recover ferrous materials. Then use a trommel screen to separate raw materials into several sizes (about 3~4 kinds) to facilitate sorting. Used PET bottle caps are sorted by automatic sorting machines. With the help of concentric pole eddy current separators and eccentric pole eddy current separators, non-ferrous materials are separated. In particular, the concentric pole eddy current separator can sort aluminum flakes as small as about 2mm.

After the eddy current separator, the material enters the induction sorting system for detection, with sorting done by compressed air attraction. This includes weakly magnetic ferrous metal pieces such as stainless steel, electric cables, and wired glass. Color glass contains gold, silver, selenium, cadmium sulfide, etc., which are expensive or scarce raw materials. A color sorter is used to check transparency, and all opaque materials are identified last. Through this process, glass scraps become pure glass of different colors, which can be directly sent to glass plants as raw materials.

We supply automatic sorting and separation technology, bringing more efficient work to the glass recycling industry.

More than 30 waste glass recycling companies choose Sortek Group for metal removal. We are a factory and have supplied recycling systems to over 30 glass bottle recycling factories for metal recovery. Our system is not only efficient but also affordable. As a separating equipment manufacturing factory, Sortek Group can offer a very attractive "price/performance" ratio.

Whether it is an eddy current separator, magnetic separator, or sensor sorter, all are designed and manufactured to measure according to the needs of glass bottle recycling/flat glass recycling companies. ECS can remove loose metal particles (such as aluminum caps and iron caps from used beverage bottles). Magnetic separators can separate iron, such as remnants of metal rings and iron hoops (from bottle necks). Our sensor sorter can even extract stainless steel springs (also from bottle necks) or iron wires in wired glass.

Based on guaranteed quality, we have many successful cases in the waste glass recycling industry. For example, we are proud of our eddy current separator and suspension magnet in a Thailand glass recycling company.
