Fluorite Ore Processing
The main component of fluorite (fluorspar) is CaF₂. Fluorite ore processing mainly includes gravity separation and flotation.
Different fluorite ore types, embedded particle sizes, and ore properties require customized processing plants and equipment. We provide tailored solutions based on specific ore characteristics.
Fluorite Ore Beneficiation Process
Gravity separation is mainly used to extract coarse-grained massive metallurgical grade fluorite ore. It is primarily completed by a jig concentrator, achieving remarkable material separation effects.
Flotation separation is mainly used to produce high-quality fluorite concentrate. The key challenge in fluorite flotation is separating gangue minerals such as quartz, calcite, and granite. Based on different gangue minerals, fluorite ore beneficiation can be divided into the following four types:
Quartz-fluorite type ore: Mainly composed of fluorite (about 80%-90%) and quartz, with only a small amount of calcite, barite, and sulfide. The key is to reduce silicon in concentrates. (Main process: crushing-grinding-roughing-rough concentrate regrinding-multiple separation)
Calcite-fluorite type ore: Main minerals are fluorite and calcite (content up to 30%), some containing a small amount of quartz. Sometimes it forms quartz-calcite-fluorite type ore, which is refractory. (Main process: crushing – grading – jigging – grinding – roughing – multiple flotation)
Sulfide fluorite type ore: Mainly uses flotation. A small amount of sulfide ore inhibitor (such as cyanide) is added to suppress residual sulfide, ensuring fluorite concentrate quality. It enables comprehensive recycling of valuable metals while producing high-quality fluorite products. (Main process: crushing – grinding – preferential flotation of sulfide minerals – tailings flotation of fluorite – rough concentrate multiple separations)
Barite-type fluorite ore: Barite and fluorite in the ore have similar surface and chemical properties, so flotation is often used.
15TPH Fluorite Flotation Plant
This is a complete 15TPH fluorite flotation plant designed for a Pakistani customer. The main equipment and process details are as follows:
Equipment list:
Jaw crusher
Vibrating screen
Electromagnetic vibrating feeder
Ball mill
Spiral classifier
Conditioning tank
Flotation machine
Thickener
Slurry pump
Vacuum disk filter
Crushing and screening: Due to varying fluorite mine properties in different regions, some plants use a three-stage closed-circuit crushing process, while others use a three-stage open-circuit process.
Grinding: A two-stage grinding process is usually adopted. The ball mill combined with a spiral classifier forms a closed-circuit grinding system, capable of grinding to the required particle size.
Flotation separation: Fine-grained minerals are separated, enter the mixing tank to be mixed with flotation agents, and then enter the flotation machine for separation.
Dewatering: The material enters the thickener for concentration and clarified water recycling. Then, the concentrate is sent to the vacuum disc filter via a slurry pump, where it is dehydrated into a filter cake.
With this complete fluorite flotation plant and equipment, high-quality concentrate products can be obtained. Due to varying ore properties, Sortek Group supports customized fluorite flotation process plants and equipment. Contact us for more details!
